The long-awaited review of REACH, originally due to be published in July 2012, has now been published by the European Commission.
The review indicates that the Commission would like to see all Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs) identified and placed on the candidate list for restrictions by 2020. This is not, unlike that identified in the previous review, a quantitative target. The review also highlights the problems faced by SMEs, and wants to consider ways to reduce the burden on SMEs, particularly in finding better cost-sharing mechanism for them.
