Formaldehyde not permitted in preservatives for food or feedstocks by Nick Boley

The European Commission have published a decision, 2013/204/EU, which confirms that formaldehyde, a known toxin and allergen, can not be used in Type 20 products, preservatives for food or feedstocks, as defined in Annex V of Directive 98/8/EC (Biocides Directive).

Accordingly, products placed on the market as biocidal products for use as feed preservatives and containing formaldehyde shall no longer be placed on the market with effect from 1 July 2015.
