The European Standardisation Organisation, CEN, has published a number of documents in November relevant to measurements made in support of European legislation or regulation:
EN/ISO 15189:2012 Medical laboratories – Requirements for quality and competence (ISO 15189:2012). This is the accreditation standard for medical laboratories (the equivalent to ISO/IEC 17025).
CEN/TS 16170:2012 Sludge, treated biowaste and soil – Determination of elements using inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES)
CEN/TS 16171:2012 Sludge, treated biowaste and soil – Determination of elements using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS)
EN 16294:2012 Petroleum products and fat and oil derivatives – Determination of phosphorus content in fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) – Optical emission spectral analysis with inductively coupled plasma (ICP OES) – this applies to biofuel quality
EN 15616:2012 Copper and copper alloys – Determination of cadmium content – Flame atomic absorption spectrometric method (FAAS)
These can all be purchased from national standards bodies (BSI in the UK).
